Thousands of Finnish companies operate in countries where the laws and regulations protecting labour rights are weak or poorly implemented. Wages that are not sufficient to afford even the most basic standard of living, extremely long working hours, and the lack of independent trade unions are unfortunately still an everyday occurrence in global supply chains.

Finnwatch's Decent Work Research Programme focuses on labour rights issues. The research topics include collective bargaining, working hours, livelihood, and occupational health and safety in supply chains in developing countries.
